Modern routers are generally equipped with APP management. The management APP for Xiaomi routers is Mi WiFi, which can be downloaded and installed from the Xiaomi app store or any major app markets.

The default login IP address for Xiaomi routers is 192.168.31.1. In the previous article, we have introduced how to change the login IP address of Xiaomi routers on a computer. Today, we'll explore configure your router through the mobile app—a notably convenient method.

192.168.31.1 Configure Xiaomi Router IP Address and WiFi

To configure your Xiaomi router using the mobile app does not require the router's management address, but a Xiaomi account is necessary, and the Xiaomi router management APP must be installed on the phone.

1. Install the Mi WiFi App: Download and install the Xiaomi router app on your phone. You can find it in the Xiaomi app store or scan the QR code on the router's packaging.

2. Open the Xiaomi router APP and log in. If you do not have a Xiaomi account, you need to register one first.

3. Connect to the Xiaomi router's WiFi. Open your phone's WiFi settings, find and connect to the Xiaomi router's network. If your phone is already connected to a different WiFi network, disconnect from it before connecting to the Xiaomi router.

4. Bind the Xiaomi router. Go back to the Xiaomi router APP interface, click the "+" icon in the upper right corner, a pop-up interface will show the nearby devices that can be bound automatically scanned, find the corresponding router name, click "Bind immediately", and enter the router management password to bind successfully.

5. Configure the router. Once bound, the router's WiFi management interface will be visible. Click "Toolbox", which provides various function settings, such as adjusting the IP address and modify the WiFi name and password.

  • The prerequisite for using Mi WiFi APP to manage the routing network is that the router has been set up and can access the Internet normally;
  • Before making any modifications, it is recommended to back up the current router settings to prevent any potential problems. In this way, you can easily restore to the previous state and avoid unnecessary trouble.
