Changing the router password is an important step in protecting your network security. By changing the password, you can prevent unauthorized access to your network. In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to change the password of your TP-Link router, including both the login password and WiFi password.

Change the login password of TP-Link router
Typically, the steps to modify the TP-Link router login password are as follows:
1. Connect to the router: Connect your computer or mobile device to the router through WiFi or a wired connection.
2. Open a web browser and enter the router IP address: Open a web browser on your computer or mobile device, such as Edge, Chrome, Apple Safari, etc. Then, enter the IP address of the router in the browser address bar, which generally is "192.168.1.1" or "192.168.0.1", but may vary depending on the router’s model. You can find this login address in the bottom label of the router, user manual, or online instructions.
3. Log in to the router admin interface: Enter the username and password for the router to log in to the router admin interface.
4. Find the "Modify Login Password" option: If you are using an older TP-Link router, you can click "System Tools" → "Modify Login Password" in the router management interface; if you are using a new model TP-Link router, you can click "Advanced Settings" → "Device Management" → "Modify Login Password".
5. Enter a new password: Enter the original username and password and the new username and password as the page prompts.
Change the WiFi password of TP-Link router
Modifying the WiFi password of a TP-Link router also requires logging in to the router's admin page. Typically, the steps to modify the WiFi password of a TP-Link router are as follows (the first 3 steps are the same as modifying the login password):
1. Connect to the router: Connect your computer or mobile device to the router through WiFi or a wired connection.
2. Open a web browser and enter the router IP address: Open a web browser on your computer or mobile device, such as Edge, Chrome, Apple Safari, etc. Then, enter the IP address of the router in the browser address bar, which generally is "192.168.1.1" or "192.168.0.1", but may vary depending on the router’s model. You can find this login address in the bottom label of the router, user manual, or online instructions.
3. Log in to the router admin interface: Enter the username and password for the router to log in to the router admin interface.
4. Find the "Wireless Settings" option: If you are using an older TP-Link router, you can click on "Wireless Settings" → "Wireless Security Settings" → "WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK" → Select AES as the encryption algorithm in the router admin interface. If you are using a new model TP-Link router, you can directly click on "Wireless Settings" in the router admin interface.
5. Input a new WiFi password: The older version of TP-Link router is generally referred to as PSK password, and the newer version is generally referred to as wireless password. The password is usually set to be no less than 8 characters.
6. Save and apply the new settings: After entering the new password, click "Save". Some routers need to be restarted for the settings to take effect, which can be done by clicking "System Tools" → "Restart Router".
