Step 1: Connect to the Portable Wi-Fi Network.
Open the Wi-Fi settings on your phone or computer, search for and connect to your portable Wi-Fi’s network. This connection is a prerequisite for changing the password. You can usually find the network name and default password on the device label or in the user manual.
Step 2: Open Your Browser and Enter the IP Address.
Once connected, open a browser on your phone or computer, type 192.168.100.1 into the address bar, and press Enter (or click “Go” on mobile).
Step 3: Log In to the Management Page.
You’ll see a login screen where you’ll need to enter the username and password. The default username and password are usually on the label at the back of the device. Common defaults are “admin/admin” or “admin/1234.” If the login page doesn’t appear, check if the IP address was entered incorrectly, such as 192.168.100.l, 192.168.l00.1, or 1921681001.
Step 4: Access Wi-Fi Settings.
After logging in, you’ll be directed to the portable Wi-Fi device management interface. Look for options like “Wi-Fi Settings” or “Security Settings” (these might be under “Network Settings” or “Advanced Settings”). The layout varies across brands, but the “Wi-Fi Settings” option is usually easy to find.
Step 5: Change the Wi-Fi Password.
In the Wi-Fi settings page, you’ll see the current Wi-Fi password field (often labeled “Password” or “Security Key”). Click this field, delete the old password, and enter a new one. For better security, create a new password that includes uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
Step 6: Save Your Changes.
After entering the new password, make sure to click “Save” or “Apply” to confirm the changes. The device will disconnect briefly as it restarts the wireless network to apply the new settings.
Step 7: Reconnect to the Wi-Fi.
Since the password has been updated, all previously connected devices (such as phones, computers, and tablets) will need to reconnect using the new password. Open the Wi-Fi settings on each device, enter the new password, and reconnect to the network. If the connection is successful, your password change was completed successfully.
