1. First, connect your Xiaomi router to a power source, then use an Ethernet cable to connect the router's WAN port to the LAN port on your modem/ONT. Wait until the router's indicator light turns on normally before continuing.

2. Open the WLAN or Wi-Fi settings on your phone and find the Xiaomi router's Wi-Fi network in the list. The network name usually starts with "Xiaomi_" or "Redmi_". You can also find the default Wi-Fi name on the label at the bottom of the router. During initial setup, the default Wi-Fi network usually doesn't require a password—simply tap it to connect.

3. After connecting to the Wi-Fi network, the Xiaomi router's initial setup page will usually open automatically (as shown below). Follow the on-screen instructions to start setting up the router.
If the setup page doesn't open, you can launch a web browser on your phone and enter the Xiaomi router's management address in the address bar to access the setup wizard.
Xiaomi routers typically have two default management addresses: miwifi.com and 192.168.31.1. If one doesn't work, try the other.

4. On the initial setup page, tap "Try It Now" and then set up the internet connection type: Broadband account online (PPPoE), Automatically retrieve IP (DHCP), or Static IP.
If your home internet connection uses PPPoE, select "PPPoE", enter your broadband username and password, and then tap "Next". If you've forgotten your broadband username or password, follow the instructions on the page or contact your ISP to retrieve them.
If your connection uses Dynamic IP, select "DHCP". If your ISP does not require a VLAN ID, leave Additional ISP Settings unchanged and tap "Next".

5. Next, set up your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and network password. We recommend using alphanumeric characters for the network name. For the password, use a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols, and make it more than 8 characters long to help prevent unauthorized access. We also recommend turning off Combined dual-band so you can configure distinct Wi-Fi names and passwords for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

6. For convenience, you can check "Make Wi-Fi password the router administrator password" or leave it unchecked to create a separate router admin password.
Once saved, your Xiaomi router setup is complete, and you will see a prompt to reboot the router. After the reboot finishes, simply reconnect your phone, computer, or iPad to your newly created Wi-Fi network to start browsing.
