IP: 192.168.1.132 Login Page Username Password

As we've mentioned, 192.168.1.132 is the usual login address for router settings. If you're unable to open the login page with this address, let's explore the common reasons and how to fix them.

There are five main reasons why you might not be able to access your router settings using 192.168.1.132:

(1) Incorrect IP Configuration on Your Computer

If your computer's IP address has been manually set up incorrectly, it can block access to the router. The fix is to set your computer to get an IP address automatically. Here’s how in Windows 10:

1. Right-click the Windows 'Start' button and select 'Network Connections'.
2. Right-click on your connection (e.g., 'Ethernet' or 'Wi-Fi') and choose 'Properties'.
3. Select 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)' and click 'Properties'.
4. Choose 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server address automatically', then click 'OK'.

If your computer is already set to get an IP address automatically, you can skip this step.

(2) Router Connection Problem

Make sure your computer, modem, and router are all connected correctly.

The main internet line from your wall should plug into the modem. An Ethernet cable should then run from the modem to the router's WAN port. For laptops or phones, connect to the router's Wi-Fi. For desktops, plug an Ethernet cable into one of the router's LAN ports.

(3) Faulty Network Cable

A faulty network cable between your computer and router can cause this problem. Damage to the cable or worn-out connectors can interrupt the connection. If you have a spare Ethernet cable, try swapping it out to see if that resolves the issue. You can also check the network icon in the corner of your screen or use the 'Ping 192.168.1.132' command to test the connection.

(4) URL Entered in the Wrong Place

Many browser homepages have a large search box (for Google, Bing, etc.). A common mistake is typing 192.168.1.132 into this search box instead of the address bar at the very top of the browser. The address bar is where you see website addresses like 'google.com'. Typing 192.168.1.132 here will take you directly to the login page.

(5) Incorrect Router Address

Not all routers use 192.168.1.132 as their default login address. Different brands may use a different IP or a web address. Always check the sticker on the bottom of your router to find its specific login address.

Additionally, the router's default address might have been changed for security. If so, the old address will no longer work. To find your router's current login address on Windows 10:

1. Right-click the 'Start' button and select 'Network Connections'.
2. Right-click your connection and select 'Status'.
3. Click 'Details'.
4. The address listed next to 'IPv4 Default Gateway' is your router's current login IP.

When you type 192.168.1.132 in your browser, you might expect your router's login screen but get your ISP's login page instead. Let's figure out why that happens and how to get to your router's real settings page.

If your router's address is supposed to be 192.168.1.132 but it opens your ISP's page, it's likely for one of the following reasons:

(1) IP address conflict between the router and the modem

Both the modem supplied by your ISP and your router might be using the same default IP address: 192.168.1.132. This conflict can cause you to see the modem's login page instead of your router's.

Solution: Change the router's IP address. Follow these steps:

1. Disconnect the cable from the router's WAN port (the one that goes to the modem). Make sure your computer is connected to one of the router's LAN ports, as shown below:


Important note: Your computer doesn't need internet access to configure the router. As long as your computer is connected to the router with a cable, or your laptop/phone is connected via Wi-Fi, you can open the router's settings page.

2. Log into your router by typing 192.168.1.132 in your browser's address bar.
3. In the router's settings, find 'LAN Settings' (or similar) and change the IP address to something new (e.g., 192.168.3.1), as shown below:

4. Save the new setting. Reconnect the WAN port cable to the modem, and now use the new IP address to open your router's login page.

(2) The router's IP address was changed previously

If the router's IP address was already changed from the default, typing 192.168.1.132 won't work and might redirect you.

Solution: Find the router's current IP address and use that to log in. You can find this by looking for the 'IPv4 Default Gateway' in your computer's network connection details. As shown in the image below, the address next to 'IPv4 Default Gateway' is the router's current login address.

In this example, you would now need to type 192.168.3.1 into your browser to log in.

Note:

① A router's login IP address can be changed manually.

② Many modern routers will automatically change their own IP address to avoid a conflict if they detect that the modem they are connected to is using the same IP.

Now, let's look at which router brands commonly use 192.168.1.132 as their default login address. We have compiled a list of popular brands that use this address, including their default usernames and passwords, along with an analysis of how frequently each is used. Please remember that this information is for reference only. If a specific brand or model isn't on this list, it simply means we haven't yet gathered its data for using 192.168.1.132 as the default login.

To keep your network secure and prevent unauthorized access, it's important to change your router's default login credentials. Here's how to use 192.168.1.132 to update both your router's login password and your Wi-Fi password.

(1) How to change the router's login password?

If you already know your current password, follow these steps:

1. Log in to the router's administration page (see question 1: How to use 192.168.1.132 to log in to the router's administration page?).
2. In the settings menu, navigate to 'Advanced'→'Administration'→'Set Password'.
3. Enter your old password, then type your new password and confirm it. Click Apply to save.

Note: After you update the password, you must use the new one for all future logins. To avoid getting locked out, it's a good idea to memorize it or write it down on a note and stick it to the bottom of your router.

(2) How to change the wireless network (Wi-Fi) password?

Changing your Wi-Fi password is a similar process and also requires logging into the router's administration page.

1. Log in to the router's administration page (see question 1: How to use 192.168.1.132 to log in to the router's administration page?).
2. In the settings menu, navigate to 'Advanced' → 'Setup' → 'Wireless Setup'.
3. Look for a security option like 'WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK' and a field for the 'PSK Password' (this is your Wi-Fi password). Enter your new password here and click Apply to save it.

Authentication Type: WPA2-PSK is the most secure standard. 'Automatic' is also a good choice if available.

Encryption Algorithm: AES is generally recommended because it's more secure than TKIP. 'Automatic' is also a safe option.

If your router's settings are causing problems and you can't get online, you may need to reset it to its factory settings. There are two main ways to do this: one through the router's admin page, and another using the physical RESET button on the device itself.

(1) How to restore factory settings from the router's administration page?

1. Log in to the router's administration page (see question 1: How to use 192.168.1.132 to log in to the router's administration page?).
2. In the settings menu, navigate to 'Advanced' → 'Administration' → 'Backup Settings'.



3. Click the 'Revert to Factory Default Settings' button. A confirmation box will pop up to prevent you from resetting it by accident.



4. Click 'OK' to confirm. The router will then reboot and restore its original factory settings.

This method only works if you can log in to the router. If you've forgotten your password, don't worry—you can use the second method below.

(2) How to reset the router to factory settings using the RESET button?

1. First, find the RESET button on your router. It might be a regular button you can press, or a small pinhole that requires a paperclip or pin to press.



2. Make sure the router is plugged in and powered on (the power light should be lit).
3. Press and hold the RESET button for about 10 seconds. You should see the lights on the router flash, then go off. When you release the button, the router will restart. This indicates the reset was successful.

Note:

① Never unplug the router during the reset process, as this could damage the device.

② A factory reset will erase all your custom settings, including your Wi-Fi name and password. You will need to set up the router again from scratch to get back online.
