When checking the sticker at the bottom of your router or reading the user manual, you will often see a default management address such as 192.168.0.1. Visiting this address allows you to access the router's admin panel to change your Wi-Fi name, password, and other network settings.
However, login addresses can vary by routers. Many newer models even use web domain addresses instead of IP numbers, such as tendawifi.com commonly used by Tenda routers. If your router's IP is 192.168.0.1, follow the step-by-step guide below to log in and change your Wi-Fi password using your smartphone.
How to Log Into 192.168.0.1 and Change Wi-Fi Password on Your Phone
1. Open your phone's Settings → Wi-Fi and connect to the wireless network of the router you want to configure. If your phone is using mobile data instead of connecting to the router's Wi-Fi, you won't be able to access the 192.168.0.1 login page.
2. Open the browser on your phone and enter your router's management address, 192.168.0.1, in the address bar at the top. Then tap "Go" to open the router login page.
Note ①: Enter the management address directly in the browser's address bar. Do not type it into a search box, or you may be taken to a search results page instead of the router login page.
Note ②: Make sure the IP address is entered correctly. Avoid incorrect formats such as 19216801, 192,168,0,1, 192.168.01, 191.168.o.1, or http.//192.168.0.1.
3. On the router login page, enter the admin password to sign in. This is usually the password you created when you first set up the router, although some routers may use the same password as your Wi-Fi password. ISP-customized router models may instead use the default username and password printed on the label at the bottom of the router.
4. After logging in to the router's admin page, look for Wireless Settings or Wi-Fi Settings. From there, you can change your wireless network name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password. For better security, we recommend using a password of at least 8 characters with a combination of letters and numbers.
5. Check that the new Wi-Fi name and password are correct, then tap "Save" or "Apply". The router will save the new settings automatically. After a short wait, open your phone's Wi-Fi list again, find the Wi-Fi network with the new name, and enter the new password to reconnect.
